Two Orano employees win awards at the Trophées des Femmes de l'Industrie

Two Orano employees have won awards at the “Trophées des Femmes de l'Industrie” - the French Women in Industry awards organized each year by French industry magazine L’Usine Nouvelle. Stéphanie Gaiffe, site director at La Hague plant, took the “Woman of the Year” prize, and Isabelle Baudu-Picquet, project manager for Orano Project, also at the La Hague site, was rewarded in the “Women in projects” category.

For this year's event, over 130 entries were submitted by women from some 20 companies, in 11 categories1.

Stéphanie Gaiffe reacted: “I'm delighted and honored to receive this award! It shows that women at Orano are taking their rightful place in positions of responsibility. This distinction is also an encouragement for companies committed to gender diversity; it puts the spotlight on women who are contributing to the success of French industry."

Isabelle Baudu-Picquet added: "I'm really very happy to have won this award. For me, it's a positive, proactive message that says: We women can climb the management ladder, even in industry! I'm proud to work for a company that promotes gender diversity and puts women in team leadership positions in a sector of the nuclear industry that is still too male-dominated."

Corinne Spilios, Senior Executive Vice President of the Recycling Business Unit and member of Orano's Executive Committee, also present at the event, was eager to “warmly congratulate Stéphanie and Isabelle on their trophies! For us, gender diversity and equality in the workplace are key issues and one of the main elements of the core purpose formulated by our business. I myself am a sponsor within the group of O'Pluriel, a network for reflection and mutual support on diversity and gender diversity, because I am convinced that it is an asset for the attractiveness of our group."

Since its creation, Orano has demonstrated its commitment to the feminization of the industry, and continues to promote women's access to all positions of responsibility.  The group aims to recruit 31% of women as of 2024, fostering their career development through training programs that are currently supporting more than 250 women.

Orano is actively involved in secondary and higher education, and runs campaigns on social networks to raise awareness around increasing the proportion of women in all professions in industry, combating stereotypes and attracting new female employees in all our areas of our business. In 2021, the group joined the #STOPE charter (Stop sexism in the workplace).

In May 2023, the Group reasserted its commitment to accelerating gender equality in the workplace by signing a new Gender Equality agreement, in line with its commitment policy and developments in civil society. The unanimous agreement addresses for the first time societal issues such as medically-assisted reproduction, domestic violence, and gender transition.
