Vexler named U.S. President of Orano TN

Amir Vexler, President, Orano TN, U.S.Washington, D.C. –Orano USA CEO Sam Shakir announced today that Amir Vexler is the new president of the region’s Orano TN operations. This business provides products and services to commercial and federal customers for the secure management, transportation, and storage of used nuclear fuel and radioactive waste material.

Mr. Vexler’s extensive international experience in the electric power industry includes manufacturing, engineering services, commercial operations, and business development.




“Amir’s energy and expertise are the right mix for leading our TN business,” said CEO Sam Shakir, “as we actively enhance our competitive positions in the used fuel, decommissioning, and federal environmental clean-up markets.”

Mr. Vexler earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Wilfrid Laurier University.

Orano’s NUHOMS® systems have securely stored used nuclear fuel in the United States for nearly three decades, with installations at more than 30 sites around the country. The company recently announced the expansion of its U.S. transport fleet with MP197HB—the first operational cask of its kind in the U.S.—and contracts for Orano’s new double-tiered dry storage system named NUHOMS MATRIX.

With more than 50 years of experience in nuclear materials transport around the globe, Orano TN has established the gold standard for transportation protocols, regulatory compliance, and the most comprehensive emergency planning and response capabilities. Today, Orano TN carries out 5,000 shipments each year for its customers, including nuclear energy facilities, fuel manufacturers, fuel cycle facilities, and research institutions. More than 200 of these annual shipments annually are of used nuclear fuel from various points around the globe to Orano’s La Hague reprocessing facility in Normandy, France.
