AREVA TN Signs Contract to Provide New, Advanced Storage Canisters for Used Nuclear Fuel
CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 30, 2016 – AREVA TN, AREVA’s nuclear logistics division, held a ceremonial contract signing with Dominion Virginia Power at the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris. Under this contract, AREVA TN will provide 75 NUHOMS® EOS dry shielded canisters, which are designed to securely store used nuclear fuel, to two of Dominion’s operating facilities through 2038.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to provide Dominion with the next evolution of our proven, high-performance dry shielded canisters,” said Greg Vesey, senior vice president, AREVA TN Americas. “Our EOS canisters are engineered for ease of plant performance and offer our customers peace of mind.”
The EOS canisters will be manufactured at AREVA TN’s Columbiana Hi Tech facility in Kernersville, N.C. AREVA TN will begin delivering the canisters in 2019.
This is AREVA TN’s second contract for its NUHOMS® EOS dry shielded canisters.
