Orano Canada is a leading producer of uranium in Canada, working to power the future with clean energy!

 

We are seeking a passionate junior / intermediate engineer that will lead innovation in the design and implementation of industrial electrical systems. In this role, you’ll collaborate with diverse teams to develop cutting-edge designs, support capital projects, and ensure adherence to industry standards. You’ll provide valuable technical support while being mentored by Orano’s senior engineers and electricians. We welcome candidates with a range of experience levels, from junior to intermediate. What you’ll accomplish: 

With the support of the Senior Electrical Engineer, this position is responsible for the following:

·         Act as Orano Canada’s lead authority regarding the electrical discipline

·         Develop and implement effective electrical design standards

·         Select appropriate electrical devices, and prepare required specifications and data sheets

·         Develop engineering deliverables such as, load lists, cables schedules, panel drawings, single line diagrams, junction box wiring diagrams

·         Prepare and support the creation of procurement packages such as, construction and engineering scopes of work, and equipment packages, including supporting clarification responses and technical bid evaluations

·         Ensure electrical designs meet technical specifications, adherence to industry and internal standards, and required regulatory and QA/QC requirements are met

·         Check the design work of others and provide technical feedback

·         Provide electrical technical support to other Orano Canada departments, such as Mill Engineering, Mill Maintenace and Mining, as required

·         Collaborate with other disciplines, experts and Orano groups to conduct trade-off studies and make recommendations on the preferred option with regard to feasibility, operating and capital costs

·         Other duties as requested by the Supervisor, Engineering

Ideal qualifications

Qualities and skills we’re seeking:

·         Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering

·         Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or an Engineering Licensee with APEGS

·         A minimum of 4 years of industrial experience

·         Familiarity and application of various industrial design codes and standards (i.e. ISA, IEEE and CSA standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code

·         Understanding of power distribution and protective devices

·         Aware of ongoing regulatory requirements and industry standard best practices

·         Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Excellent ability to analyze opinions and facts and to form recommendations for communication and approval from stakeholders throughout the company

·         Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills to coordinate efforts and meet deadlines

·         Demonstrated ability to provide clear recommendations and to interact in a team environment, as well as work independently

·         Cooperative and collaborative with the ability to cultivate relationships with other departments and with external partners
