Departure of a used fuel transport from Australia to France
A specialized vessel carrying four used fuel packages from a research reactor operated by ANSTO (Australia Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) left Australia headed to France on July 29, 2018.
This fuel, which was used for the production of research and medicine isotopes, will be recycled by Orano at its la Hague site, France.
The transport complies with the national and international regulations in force. The shipping company and the vessel used have all the necessary guarantees in terms of safety and security.
