Major duties & responsibilities: Set up and machine parts using manual horizontal boring mills, vertical lathes, manual mills and Bridgeports, grinders, and drill presses. Produces complex to highly complex conventional milled/turned parts and tooling to accurate tolerances. Perform routine checks/dimensional inspections during work cycle and makes adjustments within allowable limits to maintain specified tolerances; may check work of other machinists as directed by supervisor. Ability to interpret complex drawings and features; must be able to interpret verbal and written instructions. Determines tasks needed to complete machined parts. Follows all travelers/routers and machining procedures. Occasionally may work with engineering to assist with development of procedures, methods, or processes. Capable of creating or modifying fixturing, as necessary. May act as lead, as directed by supervisor. Play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules. Skills/Knowledge required: Broad knowledge of conventional machining operations, including tool/fixture selection and application.
